Crafting The Stage: Carpentry

Welcome to my Carpentry portfolio. Explore the foundations of theatrical magic through my hands-on projects, showcasing precision, adaptability, and a commitment to bringing visions to life on stage.

Building 'Hello, Dolly'

My work on "Hello, Dolly" stands out as a highlight in my carpentry journey. This production was rich with intricate technical elements, all meticulously constructed by our dedicated technical team. It was a project that significantly expanded my skills, building my confidence, especially during the demanding load-in and load-out phases. I learned the critical importance of teamwork and precision in delivering a complex theatrical vision.

Precision and Power: My Tools

I am proficient with a range of essential carpentry tools, including the table saw, panel saw, miter saw, as well as hand tools and power tools. These tools are fundamental to my ability to craft sturdy and precise scenic elements. My expertise extends to constructing flats and platforms, which are the backbone of many theatrical sets, among many other pieces specific to each show. This hands-on experience ensures that every piece built is not only structurally sound but also perfectly aligns with design specifications.

Beyond The Build: Scenic Painting

My passion for technical theatre extends beyond just construction; I also have valuable experience assisting with scenic painting. This allows me to not only build the physical elements of a set but also contribute to their aesthetic transformation. My goal is to showcase a broad and versatile skillset in carpentry, demonstrating that I can handle multiple aspects of set creation, from structural integrity to artistic finish.

My Carpentry Journey

My first carpentry project was when I was about 12 years old. I built a 6' poster board out of wood for a presentation at Hofstra University. Skip forward almost ten years and this is what I get to do everyday!
